Landings Airpark is located within the confines of Pecan Plantation, a subdivision of approximately 3500 homes near Granbury, Texas. The Anthony family started construction of the Landings Airpark runway in 2010 with lot sales beginning the next year. The airpark began as a day use only runway with grass taxiways and no fueling facilities. In the beginning, there were only a few homes, and it would remain that way for a couple of years. In 2013, the developer installed a new fuel farm with a 6000 gallon storage tank along with a credit card reader.
The first Landings Airpark Owners Association’s (or LAOA) annual meeting was held in 2016 with approximately 25 homes now in the airpark. At this time, the first two directors were appointed by the developer to represent the membership and given the directive to begin working with the LAOA members as an association in anticipation of the Developer’s future “handoff” at the end of the Dedicators Control Period.
Also, in that year, the process was started to formalize plans to add concrete taxiways. The Developer requested a formal vote, as per the bylaws, from the LAOA membership to concrete the taxiways and install the parallel taxiway. The formal vote was taken, and a unanimous vote was received. Work was completed in 2017, and each LAOA member was billed a special assessment fee equal to $8,000 for work completed.
In December of 2018, LAOA members identified a need for runway lighting and a special committee was formed to determine the best means of accomplishing this. A unique approach was taken by collectively pooling membership funds and donating the funds to the LAOA for the runway lights. Funds were added by the Developer and from the maintenance budget after LAOA voted per Bylaws to accept the cash donation. Solar powered, remote controlled lights along with a PAPI landing system were installed and the process was completed in early 2021.
Maintenance of the runway began early with crack sealing and fog coats along with repainting of centerlines and edge marking to maintain our number one amenity.
As of this year, 2023, the developer has started the largest of all the development phases, Landings East. With the completion of Phase IV on the west side, the lots with runway access number over 120 lots. When Phase V or Landings East is completed, that number will climb to close to 250 homes with access to the runway in the airpark. Also in 2023, the developer has plans to lengthen the runway 300’ for a total of 3400’ as well as make improvements to the fuel facility and add a parking area for guests.
Today, Landings Airpark is considered to be one of the premier airpark communities in Texas. Our goal, as a common interest aviation community, is to strive to maintain our amenities and attract like-minded families.
